How to choose the right MBA program

There are thousands of MBA programs worldwide and choosing the right one can often feel overwhelming. The best MBA program isn't necessarily the one which has the highest ranking; instead it is the one that fits your specific goals.

Hence the first step to take when you are considering an MBA is asking yourself the question — why an MBA, what kind of roles do I want to do after my MBA, which industries and sectors would I like to work in and most importantly where in terms of geography do I want to be and potentially work, after completion of my MBA. In other words you should be clear about the specific goal you are trying to meet with an MBA and assess whether completing an MBA at that business school will largely meet your goals.

To assess the suitability of a business school, we recommend you evaluate the curriculum they offer, any electives and subjects that are of special interest to you, any student exchange programs with other business schools you may want to take part in, any internship opportunities they offer during or right after an MBA, the sectors and industries students typically join etc. A lot of this data is easily available on the school's website and should be able to help you narrow down to a few schools.

Another important consideration is the cost of the tuition. Please remember that the cost of tuition is just one part of the total cost of an MBA, and there are other costs like accommodation, day to day living expenses and other paid for opportunities that the school itself may provide during an MBA.

It is important to be able to evaluate your return on investment (ROI) on the MBA holistically before making the decision.
